Fun Things

Here are a few of the various spare-time projects I've worked on, from artistic to computational... feel free to browse around!

  • Artistic Experiments:
  • Recital Poster Gallery - Here's a collection of a few recital posters I have made for various performances, starting with Luca class recitals from my freshman year at Rice.
  • Apartment Decorations - When I first moved to Baltimore, I wanted to fix the acoustic situation in my apartment without spending tons of money on either a medieval tapestry or on studio foam.  The solution: buy canvases from the local art store and cover the walls with paintings!
  • Early Compositions - When our family first got a computer with audio capabilities (the Amiga 500- was it in 1987?), Peter and I used to spend a lot of time with the Deluxe Music Construction Set, a precursor to the current generation of notation software.  I wrote these pieces with very little understanding of either common-practice harmony or notation (I dragged each note around on the screen until it sounded right).
  • Programming Projects:
  • Sonic Geometry - For you Schoenberg enthusiasts out there, this program quickly generates a table (magic square) with all possible inversions and retrograde versions of a given tone row, in both fixed- and movable-zero notation.
  • My Music Library - coming back soon! A full catalog of my CD collection, with search and cross-reference capabilities. (not as complete or full-featured as I would like, and it hasn't been updated in a while....)
  • Running Statistics - I've been recording mileage from my runs since late in 2004, so this program helps me play the numbers game to keep in shape.  It looks ugly, but it's customized for my purposes!
